Time To Go

This way, Squirt.

READY?

SET.

GO!

The brown duck on the right is Squirt's mama, Big Bertha, and the black duck straight in front of him is his daddy, Fudge aka Momo.  He was actually someone's pet and they let him go here at the pond.  Isn't that sweet how he went straight to his family?  He was not a tame duckling which I think is a good thing.

Squirt has come for morning and evening feedings with all the other ducks every day since we let him go. And if we wander over to the pond he can be spotted sleeping, running around with the flock, or eating.  Ducks are almost always eating. Squirt's little legs look much beefier from all that running around and swimming!

The pond is down so the ducks especially love to float close to shore and stick their heads under for long periods of time savoring all the goodies on the bottom of the pond.  Yum.

well, he sure took to that change like a duck in water! that's so cool that you can still identify him when he comes back to visit.

I've enjoyed the Squirt series of posts. The end feels a little poignant. But not too much, because this is obviously the way ducks are meant to live!

Hurray for Squirt, and hurray for the nice family that kept him safe until he got big enough to fend for himself!
