"Summer gathered in the weather, the wind had the proper touch, the breathing of the world was long and warm and slow. You had only to rise, lean from your window, and know that this indeed was the first real time of freedom and living, this was the first morning of summer."
- Ray Bradbury from Dandelion Wine
I'm a lover of all things summer. I don't even mind the heat. My favorite part is the slower pace of living and the spaciousness I feel when not hemmed in by a constricting school year schedule. Toss in sunshine especially the kind that lasts until 9pm, summer foods, green grass and meals on the patio and what is not to love.

The middle bowl is the perfect size!
These Pyrex bowls are my latest thrift store finds. And look how nicely they coordinate with the fabric I used on my kitchen window. I have a thing for bowls but for some reason they are really difficult to find at the thrift store.

My first ever very own Lego set. I put it together all by myself despite several offers of help. Good thing my kids are bigger and I am not crushing anyone by saying, "MY Legos!" :)
This rooster caught my eye, too. I am not a collector of roosters, but how could I pass up anything in that shade of beautiful blue?
And what do you think of my little Lego ducklings? They are from a friend. Aren't they cute? Mike likes to arrange them in authentic poses. One day the babies were enjoying a swim in a little bowl of water.

My real ducklings. Do you see the one swallowing? I love the way they do that.
Yesterday I turned my ducklings out into the side yard. They are totally loving it. I will probably turn them loose in the park sometime next week. They are pretty good sized now and should be able to hold their own.

If you are on Facebook you might want to check out my Wayside Sacraments page. The link is also on my side bar. If you have a page I will hop over and like it so be sure to let me know.
Have a great weekend!!!

another round of ducklings to be freed (again!) :)
ReplyDeletei like your blue rooster!
Hi Leslie! I will definitely LIKE your page.
ReplyDeleteAren't the bowls you found SO wonderful? Oh yes! They remind me of my youth and come to think of it I used to have a set of that pattern, green. I wonder what I did with them. Now I have such small cupboards and all the big bowls are on the fridge. Gotta fix that some how!
Your duckies are looking so sweet!
It isn't summer here yet. Though we've had a few nice days... :)
ReplyDeleteI love pyrex. So retro. :) Reminds me of my grandma.
I'm off to look for your facebook page..
I'm very impressed with your Lego duckies. Well done, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI have a large bowl in that exact same pattern and color. I love my vintage Pyrex so much.
Sometimes summer feels free to me, and sometimes it just feels like much too much.

*SQUEEEAL* Love the blue roo! He is gorgeous! And the legos are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThose Pyrex bowls are awesome~ they remind me of a set my Mom used for many years.
Cute duclings... chickens drink that way too and it's so cute to watch them glub-glub.
I'm headed to facebook to "like" you!
I love the summer too - although not too hot!
ReplyDeleteYour sweet ducklings look all grown up and almost ready to face the big wide world. I hope all goes well.
Love your Lego ducks. My husband has a set of building bricks from his childhood that are pre-Lego! The plastic is more brittle and prone to breaking and the pieces are a little smaller in general.

I love to find bowls at thrift shops, too! Often, the sets are sooo expensive, though, so it looks like you really scored with those beautiful golden bowls :-) Very summery!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you are back! Me too. I'm sure you enjoyed your trip away.
ReplyDeleteI could not agree with you more-bring on summer! Like you I love everything about this time of year - and my only dismay- wish it could last longer.
love all your bowls...so fun and festive. I'm on Facebook, but I haven't even accepted my daughter's friend request. I merely signed up so I could get onto Pinterest. Hope your week is a great one!
