Simple Joys

* Le Croix Sparkling Water - especially grapefruit and coconut

* Our neighborhood book club and meeting new friends that live here.

The bowl I bought in Mexico. The colors make me so happy!

* Going to Mexico with my mom for a few hours, buying a few things and enjoying lunch.  It was colorful with lots of loud, festive music.  Bartering was fun! I wish I was driving home instead of flying.  Just think of all the things I could have brought back with me.

No flower beds yet, but do have a few planters.  Since I took this picture the plants are half again as big thanks to some rain we've had.

* Potted flowers on my back porch.

* Seeing my first hummingbird here at our new house!  Oh, be still, my heart. Thank you potted flowers.

* A slice of Chocolate Delight Dessert made by Sara for her beau on his birthday.  Yum!

* I've bought two more duck decorations for my house and one is a fat duck planter!  I've lost count as to how many that makes now but my goal is to not make them obvious, but to tuck around here and there.  Subtle like, you know.

The baby of the family, Anna.

* Anna and her love of horses and hard work. She is not afraid of mucking, cleaning unmentionables, riding, training, tossing hay around and doing a little Taekwondo.  We are figuring out how she can have a school that combines the two.  Can you picture horse riding ninjas?

My oldest daughter, Sara.

* Sara got accepted to the local 4 year university after earning her Associates degree at the jr. college this past year.  She has declared her major as Literature Studies which is perfect for her.

South Texas Sights - How about that cactus?

* A good visit with my mom, morning walks taking in the strange sights The Valley has to offer, hot, hot temperatures but wonderful wind, caffeinated coffee, and my loaded ipod.

* Peaches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* Getting my teeth cleaned.  I don't always like it while it is happening but what a wonderful result that whole scrapping of the teeth with sharp metal objects produces.

* A great first day of our Friday co-op. It is going to be a great year and my kids really liked their classes.  And my art class even went well.

* Mike working from home two days a week.  At first I wasn't sure if this would be a joyful thing or not (just being honest), but now that I've acclimated to him being here I really like it.

"Why does anybody tell a story? It does indeed have something to do with faith. Faith that the universe has meaning, that our little human lives are not irrelevant, that what we choose or say or do matters, matters cosmically."  ~Madeleine L'Engle

Anna sounds like a girl after my own heart~ loves animals and not afraid to get dirty. (Sounds like she can take care of herself, too!)
I like how you are being subtle in your duck placement... kinda sounds like me and all my rooster decor.
Hooray on the hummers! They're so fun to watch...

  7. I love your simple joys (but you know that!). Glad you got that bright and beautiful bowl from Mexico. I like it. I just saw a hummer yesterday! I know it's just passing through, but it's exciting to me. Your girls are so lovely.

  9. My husband and I are very thankful for the huge and delectable (California) peaches we get at Costco because they make a coolish summer bearable.

Hummingbirds are amazing, aren't they. What a gift. And stories of all kinds, including such as you tell on your blog -- love that quote from L'Engle.

It sounds like the school year is off to an excellent start, and I am happy with you!

  10. I had never heard of that brand of sparkling water. Since I love anything coconut and consume a lot of sparkling water, Crystal Geyser that I get at Costco, I looked up Le Croix and wonder if Target out here has it...is that where you buy it?

  11. I hate getting my teeth cleaned, but I do love how it feels afterward. And I just got my hair colored, and it's always such a pleasure to see it sans gray!

    Love the ML'E quote!
